Cosmetic Surgery & Plastic Surgery - Difference

Though cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery  may look same, there are remarkable differences between the two.

Plastic surgery has two branches, cosmetic surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery.

Cosmetic surgery aims to improve the aesthetic appearance of a person - PRIMARY PURPOSE.

Reconstructive Plastic surgery a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease. Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and is reconstructive in nature. Plastic surgery aims to improve function- PRIMARY PURPOSE. However, it may also involve trying to approximate normal appearance, but that is not its primary function.
Cosmetic surgery is entirely focused on enhancing a patient’s appearance.
